Hawking Bird is founded by Oakland's own JAMES SYHABOUT. The Chef/Owner of Michelin starred Commis restaurant and CDP, the bar next door.
All of our packaging is 100% compostable just in case you are on the go. We are ready for you.
Our buns for our The Hawking Bird fried chicken sandwich is MADE DAILY by a local artisan bakery.
Our noodles are also MADE FRESH by a local company.
Fresh and quality products sourced locally are the key ingredients to creating food that is wholesome, nourishing and delicious. Our commitment to creating the best possible food for our guests affects the pricing. The higher cost is a direct reflection of our commitment to deliver quality.
Our Thai ice Tea we brew in house is sweetened WITH
PURE CANE SUGAR.
Our chicken is all natural raised on a vegetarian diet and free range coming from small family farms. Our eggs are organic and free range because we would not serve you what we would not eat ourselves.

Do we cook anything else besides chicken?
Yes, we have one tofu dish on our main section. We source tofu from our friends at Hodo Soy in West Oakland. When you are at the eatery check out our “Beyond the Nest” menu board for non chicken dishes.
